 Tegan T

My heart is beating fast, I have a huge grin plastered across my face and I have goosebumps all over!

No I did not just receive a bunch of flowers from my Hubs (ahem, nudge hint), but something even better!

A friend of mine just made my day by posting these photos on my Facebook, to show me how the blog has inspired her to put 'out the old and bring in the beautiful' (her own perfect words!)...And I couldn't be happier!

Tegan rents a sharehouse, and so her furniture has to multitask bigtime! This beautiful timber dresser was home to a cosmetic onslaught...

...but with a $5 investment in some baskets from Target, Tegan can paint the town red without endlessly searching for her favourite polish!

I love the way that Tegan has coralled like items, enabling her to pick up just one basket knowing she has the full kit to deck out her digits on a whim!

And now we can see more of her and her beautiful friends without all that clutter on the dresser top! I wonder how long it may have been since the GHD saw the inside of it's case, hehe! And for even more function+style, I suggested that Tegan use some tiny white pebbles or sand to help her make-up brushes sit pretty in their glass!

I can't tell you how amazing it made me feel to inspire somebody this way. This is all a part of the reason I want to be a Professional Organiser, and without getting too mushy, I really want to thank Tegan for supporting me!

Kirsti T

Recently I challenged you to get your hands on a problem drawer and make it work better and harder for you, and one of my lovely readers Kirsti took up the challenge with glee! Here's what she sent to me, get ready to be inspired!

Dear She Thrifts,
I just wanted to write to you and let you know your challenge was accepted!!
I tackled (the much overdue for a clean out!) bathroom drawers after reading you blog.

I only ever seem to find the time to get to these kinds of chores at Christmas and Easter. So four months after my last spring clean, this was the state of my drawers!!

Kirsti would not be the first girl or the last to be faced with this during her morning routine!

Another cosmetic nightmare, but look out, this girl's on a mission!

Being Easter Holidays, the shops were not open to source some new containers/organisational boxes, jars or the I turned the house upside down trying to find more uses for things I had!! I still need to find some things to keep my makeup in place! It won;t stay like that for long!

And well....ta da!

Awesome work Kirsti! It looks like you had a good purge, and maybe even re-housed some items that didn't need to make their home in your drawers anymore!? My favourite part has to be grassy lined trays that you used on the second drawer, they look totally fresh and clean.  And my second favourite, the way you didn't let a little detail like the shops being closed stop you from achieving a small miracles! House shopping is one of my favourite thrifty solutions to an empty wallet (or a public holiday!).

Jo M
An ' Inspired Reader' aka My Mum, sent me through an email about her bedside drawer project, and I'd love to share it with you!

Cassie, You've inspired me and I took up the challenge!
One drawer...15 minutes...Voila!
My bedside drawer has been bugging me for a while but there were always more important things to do. But when I got a fingernail full of pawpaw ointment when reaching for something else in the drawer I decided enough was enough.
Everything looks OK here.

But here's my dirty little secret.

The contents were interesting...why 3 pegs? I don't know. White gloves...channeling Michael Jackson in my sleep? * These are actually artist's gloves, to avoid smudging as you work, but hmmm, not much use for them here!

I needed the pharmacy when I was undergoing treatment for cancer. Chemo and radiation are tough on the body...but that was two years ago!

This lot is headed straight for the bin!!!

And these are going back where they belong in the medicine cabinet.

and these belong elsewhere too!
A wipe out with Lavender Oil, some pretty paper

and containers to keep nail files, pens etc neat and I'd be proud to show anyone this drawer.
Do I have any more dirty little secrets......yeah, you bet, but they'll keep.

I am SO proud of my mum for tackling this little clutter magnet, it is truly amazing what we keep in our bedside drawers. I like to call it 'The end of the line', where all of the little things you've been carting around all day finally get turfed at your last stop of the day, BED!
I especially loved the pretty paper used for lining the drawer, it so suits the utter 'girliness' of the room (that once was mine!)

Tegan S

I recently had a lovely email 'chat' with a fellow young mumma who is trying to get her life organised and streamlined, and it was a real pleasure to get to know a little more about one of my dedicated followers.

She has her hands full with two little ones, a job, study and a household to run with her partner, and I am so impressed by her dedication to get things running smoothly for herself and her growing family. Any mum that can work, study and run a household deserves the utmost respect and admiration. Any one of those things on their own is an unrelenting drain on the mind and body.

But Tegan is doing great things to get on track, and she sent me these pictures of some high traffic, clutter magnets in her home, that she just had to attack after reading some of my earlier posts. I am super chuffed to be the inspiration behind a little blitz like this!

Who hasn't got a clutter magnet hidden somewhere around their computer area?! Everyone in the family drops a little something on the desk with each visit, random printouts lay forgotten, bills are out ready for online banking etc. My favourite Decluttering Guru Peter Walsh is known to say "Once you have stuff on your flat surfaces, you are starting to lose the battle with clutter." So if you want to bust that clutter, get your flat surfaces clear of all the unnecessary STUFF! That's exactly what Tegan did, and this is how it looked after she worked her magic....

Just how you would want your desk to look! Nothing on that desk is unrelated to the space, and yet Tegan still keeps it personal by displaying her pictures and pinboard up on the wall where they can make her smile!

Next on Tegan's hit list was this hutch by her front door. Tegan explained to me that this hutch belongs to the owner of the property they rent, so the hutch stays where it is whether they love it or not! Luckily Tegan and her family are moving very soon, so they don't have to live with it much longer, but that didn't mean that it had to stay that way till moving day.....

As B4 would say "Holy Moley!" I have honestly never seen a difference this big in any decluttering project, and I was blown away with what Tegan was able to remove from this space. Almost all of the items had a proper home elsewhere, and that's where they went! My favourite part; the family sunnies lined up in row, too cute!

So if you've been inspired by the blog, please don't forget to take some Sad/Before + Happy/After snaps along the way, and send them to me so I can praise you in front of the masses! I'd love to fill this page with inspiring posts for all of my readers, because trust me, decluttering is a true domino effect!
